Lisa Genova graduated valedictorian from Bates College with a degree in Biopsychology and has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Harvard University. Acclaimed as the Oliver Sacks of fiction and the Michael Crichton of brain science, she is the New York Times bestselling author of novels Still Alice, Left Neglected, Love Anthony, Inside the O’Briens, and Every Note Played. Sandra Cook, CSA, CDP is Certified Senior Advisor as well as a Certified Dementia Practitioner with over 12 years’ experience in the senior health care industry. In her current role as the Manger of Care Coordination and Business Development for Home Helpers Home Care she works with families and referral partners to coordinate the appropriate services and care for their clients. Sandra has volunteered with the Alzheimer’s Association since 2008, serving on the Educational and Training Committee both for the Southern New Jersey and Connecticut Chapters. Sandra enjoys her role as a community educator for the CT chapter. Additionally, Sandra is trained as a caregiver support group facilitator for both the Parkinson and the Alzheimer’s Associations.
Lakelyn Hogan, Ph.D
Gerontologist and Caregiver Advocate, Home Instead
Lakelyn Hogan, Ph.D. serves as gerontologist and caregiver advocate at the global headquarters of Home Instead®. Lakelyn began her career at the local Home Instead franchise in Omaha working one-on-one with seniors and CAREGivers. Today at the global headquarters, Lakelyn works to educate professionals in aging, families and communities on the unique challenges older adults face and the resources available to help them thrive. Lakelyn earned a Ph.D. in Gerontology from the University of Nebraska – Omaha and has professional experience in the private and public sectors of senior care services. She has spoken at national and international conferences on the topic of caregiving and aging, and serves as a resource to major media including Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz and Hallmark Home and Family. She also values giving back to her community – currently serving as a board member of the National Alliance for Caregiving, board chair for the Dreamweaver Foundation and vice chair of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Dementia Care Provider Roundtable. Lakelyn has a passion for helping others, especially aging adults and their families.

Kelly McCarthy has been in the senior health industry for over 25 years. She is currently the Corporate Director of Memory Care and Resident Engagement at LCB Senior Living. Kelly is a Board Certified Dementia Educator for NIDE National Institute for Dementia Education, and a certified teacher for the RI/NH/MA Alzheimer’s Association Habitation certification.
Kelly is the author of Brass Ring Memoirs: Encouraging stories using practical methodologies to help caregivers reach for their goals in Alzheimer's and dementia care
In 2018 Kelly’s 8 hour Brass Ring Dementia Professional, BRDP educational program was approved as a nationally recognized dementia certification through National Institute for Dementia Education, NIDE.
Melissa Pincince, MS, RD, LDN, CDOE
Community Nutrition Educator
Melissa Pincince is a Registered Dietitian who began working with the SNAP-Ed Program in 2008. She started here as a graduate research assistant through the University of Rhode Island’s combined Dietetic Internship Master of Science program. Melissa specializes in adult and senior nutrition, and in 2014 became a Certified Diabetes Outpatient Educator (CDOE). She also has experience in both one-on-one and group nutrition counseling in a private practice setting. Melissa loves spending time with her family and close friends. She enjoys being active outdoors, trying new recipes, and reading in her free time.

Community Nutrition Educator
Luz is a graduate from Johnson & Wales University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Culinary Nutrition. Luz has worked at SNAP-Ed providing nutrition education to both the English and Spanish speaking populations since 2006. Luz uses her knowledge and passion for nutrition education to teach adults, parents, and children in the community how to live a healthier lifestyle. When Luz is not working she loves spending time with her two beautiful daughters and husband.
